The Kurdish Association in Sweden condemns the terrorist attack towards the newspaper Charlie Hebdo in Paris on December 7th 2015. This attack is a huge violation of one of our fundamental democratic rights – the right to freedom of speech. It is important that the whole world condemns the attack in order to defend our right to express ourselves.
The Kurdish Association in Sweden condemns all forms of terrorism, all forms of threat to our democratic rights and our self-determination; this regardless of whether the terrorist act originates from a fundamentalist’s idea, belief or ideology. In times like these it is important that we remember not to blame a whole group for a single person’s devastation. Doing so will create even more segregation, we will create even greater inequalities resulting in the terrorists coming closer to accomplishing their ”us and them" society.
The Kurdish Association in Sweden sends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the murdered persons and hope justice is paid for these crimes.
